Muse Pricing: Plans, Tiers and What Real Builds Cost

The Muse personal agent has three plans: a usage-limited Free tier, Power at $20 a month for 500M Muse tokens a week, and Max at $100 a month for 3B tokens a week. Developers pay separately: Muse Code costs $5, $15 or $50 a month, and the Muse Spark 1.3 API is $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output on the standard tier. Muse Glimmer is free open weights, so you only pay for hardware.

Subscriptions renew monthly on your original purchase date and can be cancelled any time. When you hit the free limit, Meta's help page says you can "upgrade to a paid subscription or wait until your free usage limit has been refreshed." You can subscribe at muse.ai or in the mobile app. TechCrunch calls the top tier "Maximum"; Meta's help page calls it Max.

The same allowance covers every surface: the phone app, the web, WhatsApp and Muse for Mac.

How many tasks is 500M tokens?

Nobody outside Meta can tell you yet. Meta publishes quotas in tokens and hasn't published a conversion from tokens to tasks, a gap Layer3 Labs points out. Agent tasks vary wildly: a quick calendar check is tiny, while a job like merging 400 Google Docs into one PDF or paging through a 77k-story Instagram archive is not.

Practical approach: use the free tier for a week, watch the meter, and upgrade only if you hit the wall on tasks you care about.

How Meta makes money from Muse

Subscriptions aren't the main plan. Zuckerberg said Meta expects to profit "by taking a small fee from transactions" and is "making Muse free for a huge number of tokens" (TechCrunch). Muse Code, the terminal coding agent, has its own plans (Meta):

DataCamp reports that Muse Code uses the contributor model by default. That's the cheap tier where Meta may train on your data.

Add-ons: web search grounding at $2.50 per 1,000 queries, Muse Image at $0.01 per image, and voice transcription at $0.18 per audio hour. Rate limits are 3,000 RPM and 4M TPM per team on Standard, and 100 RPM and 3M TPM on Contributor.

Some third-party sites mention $20 in free credits for new API accounts. Meta's docs don't confirm this.

Spark is also sold through Vercel AI Gateway, OpenRouter and Cursor, and appears as a free contributor model in OpenCode.

What builders report their projects cost

The catalog has a handful of real numbers. They're as reported by the authors, and the method varies.

• Minecraft-style world: 10 cents. mihawkxxx says his Spark 1.3 voxel build cost 10 cents to generate.
• 3D city generator: about 20 yen. Will Oldgram built an auto-orbiting 3D city with the 1.2 contributor model for roughly 20 yen.
• Big-file reads offloaded. The shunt-muse author measured about 4,800 tokens sent to Spark and 300 returned on a 617-line file, instead of loading it all into a pricier model.
• Mostly-Muse pipelines. sol-loop plans with GPT and executes with Spark; its author says over 99% of tokens run on Muse. ocodex fans out cheap contributor workers under one paid supervisor.

There's a counterpoint. Meta claims Spark 1.3 uses ~25% fewer tokens than 1.2, but DataCamp's three-task test found a net 12% cost increase: two tasks used fewer tokens and one refactor used 70% more. Measure your own workload.

What Muse saves, according to users

For the personal agent, the more common number is money saved rather than spent:
