Meta Muse Outside the US: Where It Works and What to Use Instead

Meta Muse, the personal agent, is available in two countries as of September 27, 2026: the US (since September 8) and Canada (since September 18), for adults 18+. The UK, the EU, India and Australia have no announced date. Outside those two countries you can still use Muse Code, Muse Spark by API, and Muse Glimmer's open weights.

That's the short version. The rest of this page covers what the error means, why a VPN mostly gets you nowhere, the status in each region we get asked about, and the parts of the Muse family that already work wherever you are.

Which countries is Meta Muse available in?

TechCrunch put it plainly on September 25: "Muse is currently only available in the U.S. and Canada." A Seoul Economic Daily report the next day said there was "no timetable for South Korea or other markets."

What about Mexico? Some search summaries now say Muse is live in Mexico. We couldn't find a primary source for that. What Meta did announce at Connect was its AI glasses going on sale "starting today in Singapore, South Korea, and Mexico" (Meta). That's hardware, not the agent. Mexican outlet Merca2.0 described Muse on the glasses as a coming feature, "not a capability available today." We'll add Mexico to the table when Meta or a local outlet confirms it.

Meta's own hint about what's next was a post on Canada launch day: "Made it to Canada. Where to next?" (quoted by iPhone in Canada). No country has been named since.

What does "Muse is not available in your country" mean?

It means Meta has decided your account isn't in a launch country. It isn't a bug and it isn't a slow rollout that will reach you if you wait a day.

Meta's subscriptions help page sets two conditions: you must "be located in a country where Muse is available," and "Muse and Muse subscriptions are in limited testing and aren't available in all locations yet." Zentor's teardown found the block fires at sign-in rather than when the page loads, which points to the check being tied to your Meta account, rather than only the IP address you arrive from.

There's no official waitlist, and no form to request your country.

Why doesn't a VPN get around it?

Because the region check happens at the account level when you sign in. A VPN changes the IP address a site sees. It doesn't change the country attached to your Meta account, your app store region or your payment card. Toolnavs reports that Muse looks at account region and app store country too, so a VPN often gets people to the sign-in screen and stops there.

Guides from Built with Muse and Comparitech describe setups that sometimes work: a paid VPN, the web app on a laptop, a fresh email. We don't recommend it, for three reasons.

1. Meta says it risks your account. Replying to a user in Malaysia, Meta's @meta.ai account on Threads wrote that "you might get past the signup with a US VPN, but you'd be bypassing the geo restriction, risking your account." If that account is linked to your Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp through Accounts Center, those are what's at stake.
2. The useful parts are US plumbing. Muse pays through Stripe Link and reads bank data through Plaid's 12,000+ US institutions. The shopping partners (Instacart, Walmart, Best Buy, Shop Pay) are US-first. A VPN doesn't give you a US card or a US bank. You'd end up with a chatbot and a cloud VM, and not much for it to do.
3. You'd be handing email and payment access to a product that doesn't claim to support your country. Consumer protections, refunds and data handling are all set up for the markets it launched in.

Also skip anything sold as a "US Muse account" or referral-code bundles. Meta's Threads reply called those "not an official Meta offer."

Is Meta Muse available in the UK?

No. Mad Robot's UK tracker, updated September 27, says Meta "hasn't announced when Muse will launch in the UK, and anyone giving you a firm date is guessing." There's no GBP pricing either.

Mad Robot points to UK GDPR and Meta's track record: the ordinary Meta AI chatbot took roughly 18 months to reach the UK after its US launch. Meta AI itself is now live for UK users inside Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. That's the chat assistant, not the agent.

Is Meta Muse available in the EU?

No, including Ireland, per the same Mad Robot piece. An agent that reads your email, touches payments and can hold health records (Muse launched with Function Health and HealthEx connectors) has to satisfy GDPR and the EU AI Act before it can act for you. Meta hasn't published a plan for either. Given how long Meta AI took in Europe, we wouldn't plan a 2026 project around an EU launch.

Is Meta Muse available in India?

No, and there's a whole guide on it. MediaNama reported that India was left out and no timing was given. Meta One, which launched in India in September, includes image and video generation "using Muse models" but not the agent. Is Meta Muse available in Australia?

No. Australian outlet techAU noted at launch that Muse was released "but not for Australia," and nothing has changed since. There's no announced date.

What can you use outside the US and Canada today?

More than most "not available" articles let on. The agent is gated. Most of the model family isn't.

Muse Code and the Meta Model API

When Meta shipped Muse Spark 1.2 in August, it said it was "expanding global access to our public preview, so developers around the world can start building with Muse Spark in Muse Code and Meta Model API." That's the most direct way to use Meta's strongest model from London, Berlin or Bangalore.

One catch: the same Meta post says the cheap contributor model is "available in select countries," and doesn't list them. Open Source Factory reported people outside the list seeing "Model API is not available in your region." Plan on the Standard tier and treat contributor pricing as a bonus if it works for you. Muse Spark through OpenRouter

OpenRouter added Muse Spark 1.3 on launch day. It's the easy path if you already have an OpenRouter account or a Meta signup fails. To run Meta's own coding harness on that key, Muse Code via OpenRouter is an unofficial adapter; expect it to break when Meta updates the CLI.

Muse Glimmer, no account at all

Muse Glimmer 30B is Apache 2.0 open weights, distilled from Muse Spark. No Meta login, no region check. Meta says it fits in under 20GB at 4-bit, and it runs in Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, MLX and vLLM. Glimmer is a model, not an agent. It won't book your train. It will power an agent you build or install, and that's the closest thing to Muse you can legally run outside North America today. For agent products that do work in your country, see Muse alternatives.

If you're a developer outside the US, the connector platform at muse.ai/platform doesn't ask where you live. When Muse does reach your country, services that already have a connector will be the ones the agent can use on day one.
