Email and inbox triage with Muse

Muse can triage email through its Gmail and Outlook connectors, which were part of the September 8 launch, and through Mail on a Mac. People use it for daily inbox summaries, digging through receipts and chasing replies. Meta also announced at Connect 2026 that Muse will get an email address of its own, but that had not shipped at the time of writing.

Which email accounts does Muse connect to?

Gmail and Outlook were launch connectors, alongside Google Calendar and Google Docs (PostFast list). Connectors can be set to read-only (Meta), which is the right default for triage.

On a Mac, Muse for Mac works with the Mail app. Each app can be set to Off, Read only, or Read and interact, and Muse asks before sending email (Meta).

AgentMail, a vendor selling agent inboxes, says early reviewers set Muse "to triage their inboxes at 5am and chase unanswered mail at 6pm, every day" (AgentMail). It does not name them, so read that as a pattern, not a case study.

How do I set up a daily inbox triage with Muse?

A simple version that fits what Muse supports:

1. Connect Gmail or Outlook, read-only.
2. Ask for a morning digest: messages that need a reply, bills and deadlines, and everything else grouped by sender type.
3. Make it a scheduled task. Muse keeps working after the app is closed (Meta), and David Singleton's daily podcast shows scheduled tasks running every day.
4. Add an evening pass that lists threads you sent with no reply.
5. Only once you trust the digest, switch to read-and-interact so it can draft replies. Muse asks before sending.

Can Muse sign in or verify accounts through my email?

Not reliably, and possibly by design. AgentMail reports that Muse's email connector "filters out one-time passcodes, password reset links, and login magic links," so signups that send a code to your address stall (AgentMail). We could not find this in Meta's own docs, and AgentMail sells an alternative, so weigh it accordingly. It does match catalog reports of verification steps blocking Muse, like the Xfinity call that stalled on a text code.

If true, it is a sensible safeguard: an agent that can read your reset links can take over your accounts.

Will Muse get its own email address?

Meta announced at Connect 2026 that Muse will have its own email address (Meta). Mixed News reports Meta said the agent can use it to get things done and people can use it to reach the agent, with no date given (Mixed). Other reports mention @muse.ai addresses and the ability to add Muse to a thread or forward mail to it, but we have not confirmed those details from Meta.

Until it ships, some users give Muse a separate inbox through third-party services such as AgentMail, so the agent can run errands as itself rather than as you.

Is it safe to give Muse my inbox?

Your inbox is the key to most of your accounts, so consider:

• Isolation. Muse runs in a dedicated VM, with credentials surrogated away from the model and a separate Sentinel authority gating actions (Meta).
• Prompt injection. Email is untrusted input written by strangers. Meta layers training, input labeling, classifiers and human approval, and pays up to $130,000 for a single-user prompt injection. Keep sending behind approval.
• Ads and training. Meta says Muse data is excluded from ad systems and users can opt out of training.
• Mac. An unpatched dictation zero-day was reported on September 22 (Malwarebytes).

What does a good triage prompt look like?

Specific beats clever. A prompt that works well for inbox triage names the categories, the output format and what not to do:

• "Every morning at 7, read unread mail from the last 24 hours."
• "Group into: needs my reply today, bills and deadlines with amounts and dates, receipts, newsletters, everything else."
• "For 'needs my reply', give one line on what is being asked."
• "Do not reply, archive or delete anything."

Once that digest is reliable for a week, add one action at a time, such as drafting replies for a single category. The receipt-audit builder took the same narrow approach: one question, six months of mail, one clear answer.

Beyond email: other inboxes
