Real Errands People Gave the Muse Agent, and How They Turned Out

People have handed the Muse agent bill negotiations, phone calls, flight compensation claims, ticket bookings and money hunts, and most of the reported outcomes are specific dollar amounts: an AT&T bill cut from $80 to $40 a month, a $250 Delta credit, $113 a month off car insurance. The failures are specific too: a phone call stalled on a verification text, Amazon blocked purchases outright, and a 40,000-photo sorting job did not work.

The AT&T run shows the pattern that works. Chandra Bhavanasi gave Muse a clear ceiling ("any offer under $70") so it could close without checking back. The Xfinity phone call shows the pattern that does not, yet: providers send verification codes to your phone, and the agent is not your phone. Muse's fix was to bring the human into the call, which is the right fallback.

Phone calls and in-person logistics

Matt Schlicht's Muse called five Tesla locations at once to find one with a Model YL his wife could see in person. That is an errand nobody would do by hand, five parallel calls for one piece of information.

Builders have since given Muse its own phone line. One service provisions a number for inbound calls and outbound calls to US and Canadian numbers. Another gives Muse a real non-VoIP US number, which matters for services that reject VoIP, and can whisper reminders to you mid-call.

For travel-day logistics, one user had Muse report when the next train would reach his station using his GPS location, alongside building him a new personal website.

Travel: compensation, flights and rebooking

Ejaaz's post is the most complete errand in the catalog. He asked Muse to claim compensation for a 7-hour Delta delay. Five minutes later, he says, he had a $250 credit, and Muse had also rebooked his flight and answered the airline's support email.

Shivam Bharuka started his test drive with SFO to Munich flights for a 10-day December trip and called Muse "probably the fastest personal agent" he has used. Flights run through Duffel, which gives Muse live inventory from 500+ airlines, including cancellations and trip changes (Duffel). Expedia was announced as a partner on September 21 or 22.

Bookings and tickets

Alex Volkov ran a head-to-head: Muse and another agent both had to find tickets for a Rosh Hashanah dinner. Muse booked them through Link while the other agent was still searching. Link is the reason. Stripe's wallet checks out with a saved method at more than 1M Link merchants and issues a single-use virtual card anywhere else (Stripe).

Launch connectors for bookings include OpenTable and Ticketmaster, with Fever added September 24 for concerts, museums and theater (Fever).

Finding money you forgot about

• Receipts. Idobn's six-month email receipt audit found a forgotten $100/month subscription on a corporate card: $1,200 a year.
• Unclaimed property. A search of every state's database by name and past cities found $88.92.
• Old records. Claire Zhou's agent found an 8-year-old profit from reselling Lorde concert tickets within a minute.
• Standing search. Dowser is a read-only connector for class-action settlements, recalls with refunds, unused card credits and expiring points.

Selling and shopping

One user had Muse price books from photos and list them on eBay, then keep watching Fandango prices and a water-filter replacement schedule. Meta's own early demo showed Spark building a Facebook Marketplace listing from a phone video.

Shopping hit the biggest wall. Amazon blocked Muse from buying on Amazon as of September 20, saying it accessed the store without permission and did not identify itself (GeekWire). A user built a self-hosted cart API that Muse reaches over SSH to add items to personal or Prime Business carts. That workaround is unofficial, and running it is your own call. Meanwhile Shop Pay, PayPal and Instacart partnerships were announced September 21 and 22.

Errands that didn't work

The failures are as useful as the wins:

• Verification codes. The Xfinity phone call stalled on a text Muse couldn't read.
• Scale. A user who successfully re-sorted 18 Spotify playlists says a similar job on 40k Google Photos failed.
• Blocked merchants. Amazon, above.
• Access gaps. Taylor Arndt could not use Muse for work because of missing connectors like iCloud email and VoiceOver problems.

Meta's own warning on the Mac app applies to every errand: "Your agent may be inaccurate or take unexpected actions" (Meta help).

How to delegate an errand well

From the runs above:

1. Give a limit as well as a goal. A price ceiling, a deadline, a list of what not to touch.
2. Expect to be pulled in for verification. Keep your phone nearby for codes.
3. Leave purchase approval on. Muse asks before buying by default (Meta help).
4. Ask for the paper trail. Confirmation numbers and screenshots make it easy to check the agent's claims.
